In the Weekly Update, John (the manager of MAXX Adult Emporium), will try to educate and entertain as well as inform you of the changes we’ve made to the website and announcements related to our stores. This is where you can easily learn about new toys we’ve added, new articles, stories, and blogs that have been written, things happening in the brick & mortar stores, and anything else I think you’ll be interested in knowing about. I’ll strive to post a Weekly Update every Friday, so come back regularly to see what’s new!
Where have all the leaders gone? ... or at least what happened to our faith in our leaders? It was 77 years ago today that Franklin D. Roosevelt held the first of his fireside chats. He would go on to hold 30 of them over the next 11 years. Were you even aware that every president since has continued to do so, and that since Reagan's time not only have they been held weekly but that Obama even added video, posting them on U-tube? Roosevelt's broadcasts were so popular, more people listened to them than to the most popular radio shows of the day. Can you imagine them being that popular today? What kind of country would we live in if more people listened to the president's broadcast than watched American Idol each week? I truly don't know if the problem lies with the country's leaders or it's citizens. What happened to our sense of civic duty and responsibility?
It used to be that towns were small enough that everyone knew each other and knew who to trust and who not to trust, but as cities got bigger such things as 'keeping people safe' and making sure stores treated people fairly got turned over to the government and watchdog groups. This meant that most folks gave up that responsibility and stopped worrying about it. The problem is that, despite the picture on our currency, the government isn't an all-seeing eye (heaven forbid!). Regardless of all that, it's still tough to know which stores, shops, and services are the best without taking the time to check them all out yourself. That's where the Indy Best of the Triangle 2010 comes in. Just take a few short minutes to go vote for your favorite places. I'm hoping that you'll say the store for the best "Place to buy erotic gifts:" is Frisky Business Boutique.
How about finding time this week to show some civic duty and responsibility? With the weather starting to turn for the better, there are many groups who are making plans to clean up neighborhoods around the Triangle. Check around your local town or civic groups to see who needs help clearing trash out of stream-beds or wooded gully's. If no one is doing it near you, call your friends and arrange the event yourself. Spend time with your lover outside in the fresh air with your neighbors making the area a nicer place for everyone. Then after spending the day getting sweaty and dirty doing good deeds, go home and jump in the shower getting clean together and, of course, be sure to reward each other for a day well spent.
